Education, Outreach & Youth Groups

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is here to support and develop arts within Maidenhead and Berkshire.

We work with Schools, Colleges, Universities and Community Groups. We also offer regular activities for children and young people in drama, theatre and acting; contemporary dance, bollywood dance and kathak dance.

We offer:

• A seasonal programme of arts workshops

• Schools prices for selected performances

• Tours of the venue and talks for students (e.g. the arts as a career)

• Teacher’s INSET training

• Tailor made workshops to support your curriculum, or long term residency projects

• Hire of our spaces for performances, projects and exams

Regular Youth Groups at Norden Farm, Maidenhead

Norden Farm runs a number of regular youth groups and classes in drama and dance in Maidenhead, with members ranging from ages 4 - 21!

Norden Farm has a resident youth theatre to develop skills in acting and drama. We also run a range of youth dance groups in contemporary dance, bollywood dance and kathak dance, as well as Messy Monkeys; an art group especially for young children and mums.

Our dance and drama classes run at Norden Farm, Maidenhead on a termly basis.

Norden Lights Youth Theatre

Led by Troublemaker Theatre Company www.troublemakertheatre.org.uk

• Junior Norden Lights Youth Theatre (6 – 9 years). Various days. £60 per term

• Norden Lights Youth Theatre (10 -15 years). Various days. £88 per term

• Norden Lights Academy Youth Theatre (16+ years). Wednesday evenings. £88 per term

Weekly classes in Maidenhead for young people to develop performance, drama and theatre skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Children and young people can explore all elements of drama including scriptwriting, devising and directing and work towards regular performances on stage at Norden Farm, Maidenhead.

Our young people's drama classes and activities are suitable for all abilities.

Norden Lights is supported by ‘3’ in partnership with RBWM and the Hutchinson 3G fund.

Norden Exposure Youth Dance

Led by Newbury Contemporary Dance Company

• 9 – 13 years dance. Tuesdays 5.45pm – 7pm. £60 per term

• 14+ years dance. Tuesdays 7pm – 8.45pm. £66 per term

These creative dance sessions allow participants to develop contemporary dance performance techniques whilst taking inspiration from other popular dance styles. Our Norden Lights dance groups perform at Norden Farm as well as festivals throughout Maidenhead and Berkshire. No previous experience necessary for our youth dance classes/ activities.

Kathak Dance

Led by Devika Shangari

• Advanced Kathak Dance Class. Saturdays 9.30am – 10.30am. £66 per term

• Intermediate Kathak Dance Class. Saturdays 10.30am – 11.30am. £66 per term

• Beginners Kathak Dance Class. Saturdays 11.30am – 12 noon. £33 per term

A chance to experience the most exhilarating classical dance style of Northern India! Children/ Young people will have the opportunity to work towards annual Kathak dance exams in this beautiful rhythmic dance style. All students achieved distinctions in last year’s exams. Our kathak dance members range from 4 – 18 years!

Bollywood Dance

Led by Geeta Mehta

• 6+ years Bollywood Dance. Tuesdays 4.30pm – 5.30pm. £66 per term

Sessions for children and young people of all abilities to explore this energetic modern Indian Bollywood dance style. Geeta's Bollywood dance classes focuses on a fusion of Indian and western Bollywood styles with Latino and Arabic influences. Her experience is wide ranging, including training at Pineapple Studios, choreography and performance for the BBC, ZEE TV and Channel East as well as professional performance in Bollywood films.

Messy Monkeys

Led by Sarah Kendle

• Fridays 11am – 12 noon. £45 per term or £5 per class

An art group for parents and pre-school children. Discover the excitement of making art with your young children and let both your imaginations roam with activities too messy to do at home! The class involves interactive stories and is aimed at developing your child’s fine motor skills.
