Films for March and April are now on sale.

This time of year means that we showcase the award season films – those that have won BAFTAs, Golden Globes and are nominated for Oscars.

12 Years a Slave took the top prize of Best Film at the BAFTAs as well as a Leading Actor award for Chiwetel Ejiofor. It also won a Golden Globe and is nominated for 9 Academy Awards.

Meryl Streep is Oscar nominated for her performance in August: Osage County. She plays a family matriarch who calls her daughters home after their father disappears. Julia Roberts, playing the eldest daughter, is also Oscar nominated for Best Supporting Actress.

Nebraska, Dallas Buyers Club, Inside Llewyn Davis, Her and American Hustle are all nominated for Academy Awards. American Hustle also won a BAFTA for Best Original Screenplay.

Ralph Fiennes makes two appearances in this film season – as Charles Dickens in The Invisible Woman and as the eccentric Gustave H in The Grand Budapest Hotel. If you buy a ticket for The Invisible Woman at the same time as buying a ticket for The Grand Budapest Hotel, you can purchase the pair for £10 (limited offer, tickets must be purchased at the same time).

Live Cinema highlights include Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes, screened from the English National Opera. The award winning opera has won 5 star reviews across the board. Paula Wilcox stars as Miss Haversham in Great Expectations, screened from the West End. This is the first time the Dickens novel has been adapted into a fully staged theatre production.

Over the Easter holidays, we will be screening family favourites Cinema Paradiso, Mary Poppins and Funny Face. These films have been especially selected for parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles to introduce younger audiences to and tickets are just £5.
