Interior Traces

There are currently no planned performances.

This event was last at Norden Farm more than a year ago, in May 2010.

One brain scan turns Cathie’s life upside down, whilst another offers Michael the chance to prove his innocence.

But where do the boundaries of responsibility lie? And how might the same cases be treated twenty years in the future?

Interior Traces moves between the present day and the year 2030, following the same two characters in two very different societies as they struggle with medical and legal opinion to control their own lives.

New ways of seeing the brain and understanding its relationship to our actions and personality have raised many questions: should we be held responsible for behaviour caused by a brain condition? How should the state balance personal privacy and its citizens’ safety? Should we be free to decide our own treatments?

Explore these urgent questions through a powerful multi-media performance combining speech, live music and video.

Interior Traces is part of the Identity Project, a nine-month UK-wide season of activity from the Wellcome Trust. www.theidentityproject.org.uk
