Rachmaninov: Piano Concerto No.3 in D minor
No piano season would be complete without a major piano concerto and Rachmaninov's Third is widely considered one of the most demanding of all. For many years its daunting difficulties deterred performers, apart from the legendary Horowitz, but more recently it has become a familiar concert work, equalling the composer's Second in popularity. Pianist Martin Sturfält has won several major international competitions, and has played with many orchestras including the Halle and the Swedish Radio Symphony.
