Education

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is here to support and develop arts within Maidenhead and Berkshire.

We work with Schools, Colleges, Universities and Community Groups. We also offer regular activities for children and young people in drama, theatre and acting; contemporary dance, bollywood dance and kathak dance.

Schools, Colleges, Universities and Community Groups

We offer: * A seasonal programme of arts workshops * Schools prices for selected performances * Tours of the venue and talks for students (e.g. the arts as a career) * Teacher’s INSET training * Tailor made workshops to support your curriculum, or long term residency projects * Hire of our spaces for performances, projects and exams * Help and support with your delivery of the Arts Award Qualification as an Arts Award Supporter. We can also assist as a partner for your Artsmark application.

Classes and Activties for Children and Young People

Norden Farm runs regular youth classes in drama and dance for ages from pre-school to 21 years!

Norden Farm has a resident youth theatre to develop skills in acting and drama. We also run a range of youth dance groups in contemporary dance, bollywood dance and kathak dance, as well as pre-school classes in music, art and drama. Our dance and drama classes run on a termly basis and pre-school classes run throughout the year.

Norden Lights Youth Theatre

  • Junior Norden Lights (6 – 9 years). Wednesdays. £66 per term

  • Norden Lights (10 -15 years). Days vary. £96 per term

  • Norden Lights Academy (16+ years). Wednesdays. £96 per term

Weekly classes for young people to develop performance, drama and theatre skills in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Explore all elements of drama including scriptwriting, devising and directing and work towards regular performances on stage at Norden Farm. Suitable for all abilities. Arts Award Qualification Theatre ARTistic is a group for Norden Lights members to gain their Arts Award qualification alongside their regular classes. Visit www.artsaward.org.uk for more information. Norden Exposure Youth Dance

  • 9 – 13 years . Tuesdays 5.45pm – 7pm. £66 per term
  • 14+ years. Tuesdays 7pm – 8.45pm. £72 per term

These creative dance sessions allow participants to develop contemporary dance performance techniques whilst taking inspiration from other popular dance styles. Norden Exposure groups perform at Norden Farm as well as festivals throughout Maidenhead and Berkshire. Suitable for all abilities.

Arts Award Qualification Dance ARTistic is a group for Norden Exposure members to gain their Arts Award qualification alongside their regular classes. Visit www.artsaward.org.uk for more information. (There is an additional cost for the Arts Award)

Kathak Dance

  • Advanced. Saturdays 9.30am – 10.30am. £72 per term
  • Intermediate. Saturdays 10.30am – 11.30am. £72 per term
  • Beginners. Saturdays 11.30am – 12 noon. £36 per term

A chance to experience the most exhilarating classical dance style of Northern India! Students will have the opportunity to work towards annual Kathak dance exams in this beautiful rhythmic dance style. Suitable for ages 4+ years and all abilities.

Bollywood Dance

  • Tuesdays. 4.30pm – 5.30pm. £66 per term or £8 per session

An energetic modern Indian Bollywood dance style. The classes are a fusion of Indian and western Bollywood styles with Latino and Arabic influences. Geeta has trained at Pineapple Studios, plus choreographed and performed for the BBC, ZEE TV, Channel East and Bollywood films. Suitable for ages 6+ years and all abilities.

Zoom, Zoom, Zoom – pre school music

  • Wednesdays. 10am – 11am. £45 for block bookings of 10. £5 per session on the day. Sibling discount of £1.50.

Chant rhythmic rhymes, play with finger puppets, dress up, let loose on the dance floor and jam out on percussion. Suitable for ages 6 months and over.

Theatre Sparks – pre school drama

Ignite the imagination through games and active storytelling. Children can contribute as much or as little as they are comfortable with. Suitable for ages 3+ years.

Create ‘n’ Make – pre school arts and crafts

Children discover their creativity and learn about textures, colours, numbers and shapes in this fun an interactive class. Suitable for ages 2+ years.

Little Wrigglers - pre school dance
